The Art Academy Teacher Training course is an all-encompassing course. It gives you the ability and knowledge to be a successful art teacher, and gives you the tools you need to set up your own Art School at some time in the future.

Teaching groups of small classes whether from your own home or studio is a really enjoyable and profitable way of passing your love for art to inspire and enable other people.

The Art Academy Teacher Training Course consists of the following;

1 hour of one to one advice on Teaching

This hour will prepare you and explain the basics of teaching art. You will also be taught a range of techniques that are very useful when used to build up students’ ability and confidence levels straight away. This then makes it easier to improve their art skills constructively.

12 hours of observation and assisting in The Art Academy.

You will be allocated different classes to observe and assist at The Art Academy. The Art Academy has over 100 pupils, all at different ages and stages, from the beginners right through to the advanced, covering a wide range of media. These include, drawing, painting, acrylic, watercolour, ceramics and more. You will be able to see how the different art concepts from drawing through to painting are taught. 

4 hours of hands on teaching practice of children aged 6 – 14.

After you have observed the teaching in progress for several sessions, you will have the chance to teach a few classes of differing levels under supervision. At this stage the lessons will be prepared for you and there will be someone on hand to assist you during the lesson as appropriate.

1 hour of one to one advice on Lesson Planning and Business set up.

You will be shown how to plan lessons for a wide range of classes and ages, and also how to set up long term lesson plans.

You will also be given advice on how to set up a business model so that you can start your own Art Academy (franchising of The Art Academy will be a possibility depending on the assessment outcome).

2 hours of Assessed Teaching.

Ricky Klein – Head of the Art Academy will assess two different classes that you will have to prepare for and teach.  

You will also need to produce a file with ten lesson plans, you will have the choice to plan these lessons for any age group you choose. This file will also be assessed.

Art Academy Teacher Certificate

Upon passing the assessment you will be awarded with the Art Academy Teacher Certificate.

Course Costs

The Teacher Training course costs £580, this must be paid in advance to The Art Academy
